ABOUT LORILEI: Lorilei (pronounced LAUREL-LIE) grew up in a musical household in NY. Her father enjoyed success as an acapella singer in a "do wop" group called the Mystics. In her formative years, she sang in choir, and often got lead or prominent roles in the school musicals. She volunteered as a musical coach too, teaching singing to inner city children during summer break. As a teenager, her life course was altered by seeing a movie called "The Song Remains the Same", that played at the local midnight movie. She was mesmerized by the sound of the electric guitar from then on. It wasn’t long before she bought her first electric and started lessons.
LATER . . . in AZ she played in many local bands. After graduating ASU she began teaching guitar in various music stores in the Tempe area, and also taught at Mesa Community College.

After graduating ASU she began teaching guitar in various music stores in the Tempe area, and also taught at Mesa Community College. After awhile, she moved to the north valley and taught at the Guitar Gallery, Scottsdale Christian Academy, and AZ music.
She started her first studio, Gold Dust, in 1996.
Currently, with Lorilei’s Rock, she has created a great place for all forms of popular guitar styles.
She also writes for the Examiner and performs her original music around the Phoenix metro area.
GEAR: Music software, vintage amps, guitars, microphones, the big screen, a giant mp3 library, and my video camera comprise the majority of my tools. How they are used depends on the need. Some students are great at improvisation, so getting their ideas down in a recording is key. Others are very technique oriented and tend to benefit from a session video that refreshes them on all the key points in the lesson. Many people have constantly changing interests so a giant mp3 library comes in handy.
Whatever the need,
Lorilei’s got the gear.
