I also teach composition and lyric writing, helping students who can create to refine their ideas into their best expressions. I have a good working knowledge of latest recording techniques and use these daily for almost everything related to teaching.
Methods
I create personalized lesson plans that utilize various modes of transmission. Student notebook would consist of PDF docs, MP3 practice tracks, and MOV or MP4 video clips for concepts to large to chart. The right learning style should balance structured and systematic approaches with more fluid and creative presentations. Circular learning style insures that new learning is balanced with circling back to review and reinforce foundational concepts. Pop quizzes and improvisational jams help keep students on their toes.
